Online Tuition and Mentoring
If you would like to build on your photography or processing skills without attending an in person workshop I now offer online tuition and mentoring via Zoom. The sessions run in blocks of 1 hour and cost £35 per hour. To book a session please pay for the number of hours you would like then contact me to arrange a date and time. Zoom sessions can take place any day of the week during the day or in the evenings.
Reasons to book a Zoom session
1. Post Processing tuition
I offer post processing tuition in Lightroom and Photoshop. I try to keep my processing style as natural as possible and I believe when applying edits that less is always more.
My online sessions are tailored to your needs. Via screen sharing we can work on a selection of your images, discussing what you want to achieve with each and developing a workflow that will help you achieve your goals.
We can look at RAW files, discuss what is possible and why you might want to make certain edits. We will also identify what areas need work and why this would benefit the overall look of the image. Techniques under discussion might include exposure control, use of masks and how to work on individual areas of your image, colour grading and leading the eye through the image using dodging and burning. You will be able to see my computer screen and follow the whole process whilst in front of your own computer. Sessions can also be recorded for you to play back at your leisure.
2. Critique Sessions
Whether you are unhappy with the images you are producing or would just like some feedback about your work my critique sessions can be a useful means to evaluate your photography. During an hour session we can look at and discuss up to 10 of your images. Covering the technicals of shooting, subject choice, composition and post processing I can offer detailed feedback and advice on any areas that we feel might need attention.
3. Project Mentoring
Projects are a great way to grow your photography and can take many forms including exhibitions, zines or book publication.
I have undertaken 3 personal projects in the last 3 years which have all resulted in published books. I have also put together a portfolio for the RHS Photography competition (winning a silver gilt medal) and I have curated numerous exhibitions of my work.
I can offer advice on planning and undertaking a project, sequencing and laying out a self published book and putting together a portfolio or exhibition.
4. Ongoing Mentoring
If you would like someone to guide you through part of your photographic journey then I am happy to offer a monthly mentoring service via Zoom. This will take place as a one hour session each month where we will discuss your photography and what you would like to achieve in that month. I will set you a monthly photographic challenge which we will meet to discuss the following month.
Mentoring sessions will cover technical aspects, creativity and composition as well as post processing.
