Woods and Heaths Photo and Process
Small Group Photography and Lightroom workshop

£95.00

Woods and Heaths Photo and Process Workshop.

Friday 27th August 9am – 4pm. Sutton Heath and Upper Hollesley Common plus Lightroom tuition. Only 2 places available.

Join me for a photography day of two halves. Limited to 2 participants this small group session features a morning spent exploring the heather and woodland of Sutton Heath and Upper Hollesley Common followed by an afternoon in my Hollesley studio processing your images using Lightroom and Photoshop.

For the morning we will explore two neighbouring locations Sutton Heath with is vibrant displays of heather and Upper Hollesley Common for its mix of woodland habitats.

We will cover:

Shooting in a woodland environment. Woods and heaths are unlike other landscape environments, they can be challenging because of their unstructured nature, but are also very rewarding environments to shoot in. We will learn how to tackle composition, simplifying the scene and working with the available light.

The technical side of making a photograph. This will include camera settings, ISO, aperture and depth of field, the relationship between ISO, aperture and shutter speed, white balance and the use of filters and techniques like long exposure and how to get the best from sunrises and sunsets..

‘Seeing the landscape’. This is one of the most critical elements of photography. You can be technically brilliant with the camera but if you cannot see an image or put together a successful composition you will never reach your full potential as a photographer. In this section we will practice observation and composition and work with some of the rules for composition but we will also be aware that rules are guidelines only and should never be followed to the point where they stifle your creativity.

After a morning in the field we will come back to Hollesley and spend the afternoon processing your shots and learning how to get the most out of Lightroom. We will be working with you woodland and heathland files and the processing tuition will be tailored to getting the best out of these images. You will go away with processed and print ready files.

The workshop includes:

6 hours of tuition

The option to borrow a tripod and filters if required

The use of a computer and Lightroom for the afternoon session in my studio at Hollesley.
