Deben Peninsula Photo and Process Small Group Workshop

Thursday 19th August 9am – 4pm.

Join me for a photography day of two halves. Limited to 2 participants this small group session features a morning spent out on the Deben Peninsula followed by an afternoon in my Hollesley studio processing your images using Lightroom and Photoshop.

For the morning we will explore two neighbouring locations on the Deben Peninsula – Bawdsey and Upper Hollesley Common. Bawdsey Quay has a diverse range of features which are great for photography. The river provides a beautiful backdrop and on the shore there are groynes and wooden structures great for long exposures as well as dinghies on the beach providing some good foreground for shots across the river.

From Bawdsey we will head to Upper Hollesley Common to photograph the heather and sliver birch trees.

Learn how to take well composed beautiful images. For me photography is not all about the latest gear, it is much more about connecting with the landscape and ‘seeing’ what is around you. All my workshops are tailored to your specific requirements and we will discuss these beforehand, but typically a session will include some or all of the following:

The technical side of making a photograph. This will include camera settings, ISO, aperture and depth of field, the relationship between ISO, aperture and shutter speed, white balance and the use of filters and techniques like long exposure and how to get the best from sunrises and sunsets..

‘Seeing the landscape’. This is one of the most critical elements of photography. You can be technically brilliant with the camera but if you cannot see an image or put together a successful composition you will never reach your full potential as a photographer. In this section we will practice observation and composition and work with some of the rules for composition but we will also be aware that rules are guidelines only and should never be followed to the point where they stifle your creativity.

After a morning in the field we will come back to Hollesley and spend the afternoon processing your shots and learning how to get the most out of Lightroom. You will go away with processed and print ready files.

The workshop includes:

6 hours of tuition

The option to borrow a tripod and filters if required

The use of a computer and Lightroom for the afternoon session in my studio at Hollesley.
