Friday 14th August 2025 – 6.30am – 2pm

4 places available.

Join me for a two part macro and vintage lens workshop which will be split between Hollesley Common and my studio in Hollesley.

During the workshop we will be looking for the beauty in the ordinary focusing on all the small details that we might usually overlook.

Aims:

To understand how to create artistic macro shots by shooting through foliage,  using selective blur and working with colour combinations.

To understand how to work with manual focus vintage lenses to create artistic flower or foliage portraits. This workshop is a fantastic opportunity to hone your macro techniques for photographing heathland flowers as well as a great opportunity to try out some old vintage lenses. We will be working with the following lenses:

Helios 44- 2

Helios 44 with a Petzval modification which gives an artistic swirly effect.

The workshop will start just after sunrise to make the most of the early morning low light.

The second half of the day will be spent in my studio at Hollesley reviewing the images and discussing post processing. You will have the opportunity to process your favourite image from the morning session which we will then print on A3 fine art paper so that you will leave the workshop with a print from the session.
