Capture and Create Workshop – Ipswich Waterfront

Saturday 29th July 9am – 11.30am

Join me on the first of 3 new workshops designed to tell a visual story about the River Orwell. These workshops will form part of a new series of Capture and Create workshops where the end product will be a published zine featuring your work from the 3 workshops.

All workshop participants who contribute to the zine will receive a free printed copy showcasing their work.

During this Capture and Create workshop we will be looking to produce a series of images which tell the story of Ipswich waterfront through your eyes. We will be looking to convey a sense of place by focusing on the following:

Icons  – well know and familiar landmarks eg marina, the customs house, the high rise buildings

Elements – things that are commonly associated with Landguard Point eg. the boats, barges, people and street scenes, the university and other buildings

Details – things that complete the picture, macro and close up shots, texture and detail, parts of buildings, boats, reflections, colour and abstract patterns.

To produce these images we will be looking at depth of field, composition, finding images and combining them by looking for similar colours and tones.

At the end of the workshop participants will be encourage to send in a series of 6 images which will then be put together to make up a photographic zine about the River Orwell.

You do not have to participate in all 3 workshops you can just choose one or you can do more if you wish. The idea is to create a body of work seen through the eyes of multiple photographers.

What is included:

2.5 hours of tuition on Ipswich waterfront

A full set of note explaining how to produce a series of images for this task

Some ideas for selecting and combining your images for publication.

A free printed copy of the Zine showcasing your work.
