Bawdsey Group Workshop
Join me for a half day group workshop on Bawdsey Quay exploring the art of composition and ‘seeing’ an image.
Bawdsey Quay lies at the mouth of the River Deben and is a diverse landscape that has a lot to offer photographically in a relatively small area.
During the workshop we will explore various aspects of composition including identifying a subject, finding a viewpoint, working with supporting elements and using lines, shapes, patterns and textures to create depth and interest in a composition.
We will look at composition in the wider landscape and also in more detailed scenes.
The workshop will include a series of exercises to help master the different aspects of composition.
Bawdsey has a fascinating beach that is full of old wooden groynes, concrete and metal structures which all make good subjects for detail photography. You will be encouraged to produce a series of images as a panel or montage which capture the spirit of Bawdsey. There will be advice on how to put this together and how to choose and arrange your images to produce a cohesive display.
Participants are invited to submit their images for comments and feedback after the workshop.
This workshop is suitable for all levels and abilities and all camera types.
This workshop is being run in conjunction with my new book “Photographing the Suffolk Coast” which can be purchased here >
