Description:
A wonderful opportunity to explore the Norfolk Coast in early autumn. This workshop is based in a central location staying in a luxury converted barn at Briston. Each guest will have their own room with a king size bed and ensuite shower / bathroom. Breakfast will be provided before we head out each morning and we may take packed lunches each day (depending on the weather) If we do these will be provided. We will also be taking our campervan so there will be free tea and coffee available during the day.
During the workshop we will be exploring some/all of the following locations:
Cromer with its pier and sandy beach
Happisburgh with its lighthouse and coastal groynes perfect for long exposure and minimalist seascapes
If the weather is looking good we will also take in a couple of Broads locations at Thurne, How Hill or Hickling.
Blakeney with its characterful waterfront and riverbank.
Morston Quay, just down the road from Blakeney, is a bustling place full of small boats and wooden jetties. It sits on the edge of one of the largest expanses of salt marsh in Europe.
Cley – famous for its windmill which sits in a sea of reeds this is another nearby location perfect for some creative photography.
Wells-Next-the-Sea known for its beach huts and sandy beach.
Burnham Overy Staithe with its lovely creek and undulating sand at low tide.
Holkham with its wonderful beach and dune system.
Thornham Old Harbour with its collection of small boats, old wooden jetties and stone barn all located within a short distance from the sea.
Old Hunstanton with its colourful stripy cliffs, interesting geology and old boat wreck this is a great place to explore on a falling tide.
The photography side of the workshop will be accompanied by some time with the computer looking at post processing using Lightroom and Photoshop. We will cover workflow and how to get the best from your images as well as looking at some more advanced techniques including panoramas, bracketing and focus stacking. I am keen to promote a relaxed and informal atmosphere on my workshops and there will be plenty of time for group discussion and image review.
The daily schedule will vary depending on the weather and locations but we aim to take in a sunrise and sunset on each day. Dinner will be in a pub local to the sunset shoot before returning to the accommodation.
