Description
The Beach – Poem Response Panel Workshop
Location Shingle Street and Gill’s studio at Hollesley
Create a panel of 6 – 9 images in response to a poem. This workshop will be split between time on the beach with the camera and time in the studio processing your images.
Friday 15th May 8am – 4pm. 4 participants only
A week before the workshop you will be given a choice of two poems to respond to along with some course notes. The poem is designed to provide you with a theme for your image making. How you respond to the poem will dictate the images that you make during the workshop.
The idea is to work to make between 6 – 9 images that will combine together to form a panel – this will be your response to the poem. You will need to think about your subject matter, your viewpoints, depth of field, colour toning, composition and relationships between subjects and the feeling that you want the panel to convey. You can work with landscape images or more focused and detailed shots or a combination of both. Notes will be provided before the session to help you.
The workshop is timed to coincide with the sea campion and sea kale flowers. The beach is known for its vegetated shingle, its shell line and the human and natural stories that exist here.
The workshop will begin at Shingle Street at 8am where we will spend half the session making our images in the field. We will then move to my studio in Hollesley (10 mins down the road) where we will spend the rest of the session processing our images and discussing how to combine them into a panel.
