Southwold Group Workshop

Sunday 20th October 9am – 12 midday

Join me for a half day photography workshop in Southwold exploring the art of composition and “seeing an image”

This is a vibrant and busy area full of character. During the workshop we will explore a variety of locations including the pier, St Jame’s Green and the lighthouse, the promenade, the beach huts and the beach.

We will work on identifying subjects, finding viewpoints, working with supporting elements using lines, shapes, patterns and textures.

This workshop is suitable for all levels of ability and cameras and is all about composition and the art of “seeing an image” rather than camera settings and technical data.

This is a 3 hour workshop and includes a printed handout and notes.

Participants are invited to submit their favourite images for comments and feedback after the workshop.

Description

Southwold Group Workshop.

Join me for a half day photography workshop in Southwold. During this workshop we will explore the art of composition and “seeing and image”

Southwold is a fascinating place to explore. Characterised by its beautiful sandy beach, iconic pier, colourful beach huts and elegant lighthouse the town has plenty to offer photographically.

During this workshop we will cover a variety of locations starting at the pier, St Jame’s Green, the promenade and the beach huts beyond Gun Hill.  We will look at the wider landscape as well as at more intimate details and will explore different methods of finding and observing images.

We will practice identifying subjects, finding viewpoints, working with supporting elements and incorporating lines, shapes, patterns and textures. We will also look at light and how that affects an image and the use of colour.

This workshop will include a series of exercises which will help you master the different aspects of composition.

The Southwold Group Workshop is a 3 hour workshop and includes a printed handout and notes.

Participants are invited to submit their favourite images for comments and feedback after the workshop.

This workshop is being run in conjunction with my new book “Photographing the Suffolk Coast” which can be purchased here >
